ASHLAND – Southern Oregon followed a familiar formula in Saturday night's 3-0 win against last-place Warner Pacific at Raider Stadium.

Esteban Castaneda's converted penalty kick in the 32nd minute gave the Raiders a lead, and they made sure it stuck in their sixth shutout in eight Cascade Conference games. They improved to 7-1 in conference play, surpassing 6-0-1 Corban (which has played one less game at 6-0-1) for the points lead in the standings and bringing their overall record (7-6) above the .500 mark for the first time this season after starting 0-5.

Sean McManamon keyed the rest of the scoring. He sent a cross from the right corner to the far post in the 40th minute, leading to Carlos Magana's grazed header, and he scored his second goal of the season in the 74th off a pass from Brendan Allen.

The Knights (0-6, 0-6), on the other hand, were stifled. SOU held them without a shot on goal in the second half after they generated just one in the first.

In the Raiders' seven victories, they've allowed a total of four second-half shots on goals and not a single score.

Magana's goal was his fourth of the season, tying him with Travis Hopkins for the team lead, and Castaneda's was his third. Allen is up to two assists, and McManamon's was his first.

WPC was shut out for the fifth time.

Corban's draw against Northwest Christian enabled the Raiders to move into first place for now. They'll be on the road for their next three games, starting next Friday and Saturday in Washington at Northwest and The Evergreen State.
