Corban University Volleyball Named Team of the Week
LA GRANDE, Ore. –The Corban University volleyball team has been named the “Team of the Week” for November 6-12, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced.
One week after making history winning a program first regular season championship Corban capped another weekend with another title. As the No. 1 seed and host for the CCC volleyball post-season tournament the Warriors withstood tests from No. 4 Northwest University and No.2 The College of Idaho to win the tournament.
In the semifinal against the Eagles, big offensive efforts from Amber Parker (17 kills), Alaina Gentili (12kills) and Demi Winters 10 (kills) paced the Warriors. Haley Wells registered 25 digs on the night in the 3-2 (25-17, 24-26, 21-25, 25-23, 15-13) victory. Madison Milligan had 32 assists on the night.
The championship game proved to be just as thrilling as Corban and CI went toe to toe for over two hours. In the end it was the Warriors who would outlast the Yotes taking game five 15-13. Milligan again had 32 assists on the night while Gentili registered 14 kills on a .417 hitting percentage. Marandah Boeder notched seven block assists in the 3-2 (23-25, 25-9, 25-21, 23-25, 15-12) win.
Corban (24-7, 17-3 CCC) will next play at the NAIA Championships in Sioux City Iowa Nov. 28-Dec. 2.
