EOU Men’s Hoops Caps Off Weekend with 113-98 Triumph over Northwest Indian

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Sophomore guard Max McCullough scored a career-high 38 points Sunday afternoon to help lead the EOU men’s basketball team (6-0) past Northwest Indian at Quinn Coliseum.
 
Senior guard/forward Blake O’Donnell also notched a career-high in points scoring 25 and recorded his second double-double of the season finishing with 10 boards. Senior guard Said Hersi was a boost off the bench tallying 18 points, also a career-high.

Kacy Green scored a game-high 43 points for NWIC as he went 11-for-15 from the floor, while going 17-for-19 at the charity stripe. Jaloni Pepper netted 24 points and brought down six rebounds.

It was a tight contest midway through the first half as the visitors held a 10-point advantage (29-19) after a bucket from Pepper at the 9:06 mark. Over the next five minutes, the Mountaineers started to find their rhythm and went on a 23-10 run, spearheaded by 12 points from McCullough, to take the lead back with under four minutes left in the half.

The Eagles regained the lead by one (45-44) courtesy of a 3-pointer by Green but EOU closed out the period on a 7-3 run, up only five, 55-50, at the intermission.

In the second half, Green continued to knock down his shots at the free throw line along with Pepper, who’s jumper tied the game (82-82) for the eight time at the 9:20 mark.

Soon after, the Blue and Gold used a 9-0 run to swell the lead to 10, 93-83. The Eagles would get as close as six points (93-87) over the final five minutes of regulation before EOU pulled away, building a lead as big as 19, in the Sunday victory.
