"Tonight was a good showing defensively by our guys," said head coach Austin Johnson. "Other than a few stretches midway through the first half, I was pleased overall with the effort and energy."
Corban led for most of the first stanza, riding an 18-4 run to jump out to an early 26-12 advantage. The Warriors withstood a strong Wildcat response to head into the locker room up 47-32, capped-off by an impressive buzzer-beater from Andrew Evans. Jake Love led the Navy and Gold at the half, going 3-for-3 from downtown en route to a team-best nine points after 20 minutes of play.
The Warriors never looked back, utilizing a balanced second-half attack to seal the victory.
Four different Warriors finished with double-digit scoring totals, as the team shot an impressive 54.2% from the field and 42.9% from deep. In the end, Corban racked-up 20 assists.
"The best stat to me is the 20 assists on the night," said Johnson. "The guys were unselfish the whole game. We'll need to bring the same attitude and energy tomorrow against a very tough Simpson squad."
Love finished 5-of-6 from the field, all of which were from beyond the arc. His 15 points led the team, with Beau Tilleman going 6-for-7 to finish with 14 points in the triumph. Chris Martin turned in a strong overall performance with 12 points and six assists, and Joel Johnson added 12 points of his own.
For the Wildcats, William Bratcher led the charge offensively, notching a team-best 20 points. Cameron Jensen also contributed a strong performance, totaling 11 points with five rebounds on the evening.
Corban (2-2) will return to action tomorrow, as it is set to take on Simpson in its second match-up of the PT Northwest Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
