Meade Scores 21 But Geoducks Lose to Pacific
TACOMA - Dustin Meade scored 21 points, 15 of them on three-point baskets, but it wasn't enough to prevent The Evergreen State College from losing to Pacific, 87-74, in a men's basketball game at the Doug McArthur Classic hosted by the University of Puget Sound.
The Geoducks (0-3), who were playing their third game in four days, shot just 39 percent from the field and committed 20 turnovers against the Boxers (2-0).
Evergreen led by as many as seven points in the early going and was still ahead by three at 23-20 before the Boxers went on a 19-10 spurt to take a 39-33 lead at the half. The Geoducks got to within four points, 53-49, on a pair of Shawn Spencer free throws with just under 10 minutes left, but that was as close as they would get.
Meade hit double-figure scoring for the third straight game, as did Ryan Quigley with his 11 points. Shawn Spencer added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds for the Geoducks.
Evergreen plays its home opener at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, when it hosts the Lewis-Clark State Warriors at Costantino Recreation Center.
