Gamache and Houghton Named Players of the Year, All-Conference Teams Announced
LA GRANDE, Ore. – Rocky Mountain’s Lauryn Gamache was named the 2017 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Offensive Player of the Year while The College of Idaho’s Brittany Houghton was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year, after voting by the league’s head coaches.
Gamache, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., led the Battlin’ Bears to an overall regular season mark of 13-3, going 9-2 in CCC action. Gamache finished first in the conference in total points, scoring thirteen goals to go along with four assists on the year.
Houghton, a senior from Saratoga Springs, Utah, has the highest number of saves (96) to go along with the second highest save percentage of .881 and 5 shutouts in 16 games played. CI finished with record of 5-5-1 in conference, going 7-8-1 overall.
Eastern Oregon’s Taylor Boyer was named the CCC’s Newcomer of the Year for the 2017 season. The junior from Eugene, Ore., tied for fifth in the conference in assists with three along with five total goals for the year.
Eastern Oregon’s Jacob Plocher was named the 2017 Coach of the Year. In his first year as the Mountaineers’ head coach, Plocher lead the women’s team to a 9-1-1-conference record without a single loss at home. Plocher came to EOU with nearly eight years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, and became the seventh women’s soccer coach in program history.
