Zhividze, Farr and Zabinski Selected as Players of the Year, Men’s Soccer All-Conference Announced

LA GRANDE, Ore. – With the release of the 2017 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Men’s Soccer All-Conference teams, Timur Zhividze of Corban was named the Offensive Player of the Year while Jordan Farr of Corban, and Wyatt Zabinski of Southern Oregon have been named Co-Defensive Players of the Year the conference office announced.
 
Zhividze, a senior from Vancouver, Ore., dominated the conference by leading eight out of the nine offensive categories. Zhividze supported Corban’s 10-1-2 conference record by the leading the game-winning goals with seven out of 18 total games played. 
 
Farr, a senior from Turner, Ore., led a defense that allowed only 16 goals all season, landing at third least in the conference. Corban totaled eight shutouts as they recorded their second straight regular season trip to the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament.
 
Zabinski, a sophomore from Phoenix Ariz., and Co-Defensive Player of the Year, led the conference in shutouts with nine out of Southern Oregon’s 18 played games. Zabinski additionally landed in second leading the conference in goals against average with 15 goals.

Evergreen’s Angel Trejo-Delgado was voted the conference’s Newcomer of the Year. Trejo-Delgado tallied 10 goals on the season, the fourth most in the CCC and will lead the Geoducks as seventh seed in conference postseason tournament.
 
Southern Oregon’s head coach, Biniam Afenegus, was named the 2017 CCC Coach of the Year after a vote by his peers. Afenegus steered the Raiders to an 11-1-1 CCC record and a regular season co-championships. With a dramatic 2-1 victory over Carroll College in the final game of the season  SOU secured and an automatic bid in the NAIA National Tournament along with the No. 1 seed in the upcoming postseason tournament.
