EUGENE, Ore. – NCU Volleyball head coach Kelly Pitre announced on Tuesday that she will be resigning from her post after four seasons leading the Beacons.

Pitre, along with her husband and assistant coach Robbie Pitre, will be moving to Mississippi in December as Robbie had a job opportunity that also brings them closer to family. They have also already been hired to coach in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Volleyball Club.

Pitre, who had originally stepped down in January, returned for one final season with the Beacons, one of the greatest seasons in school history. NCU qualified for the post-season for the first time during the Pitre regime and the team set new records for conference wins (11) and block assists (323).

Coach Pitre said, “It has been a blessing to have one last season coaching an amazing group of young women.  Not only did I get the opportunity to coach with my husband and our son by our side, we got to witness some records being set and history/progress being made for this program.”

Pitre finishes her four-year stint with a career record of 50-51, giving her the best winning percentage in NCU volleyball history.

Athletic Director Corey Anderson said, “I just want to thank both Kelly and Robbie for their leadership and coaching this fall. With Kelly already stepping down after last season in order to focus on their new baby, it was a difficult yet rewarding decision for all of us when Kelly accepted the idea of coming back to be our coach for one final season. We all wish Kelly, Robbie, and little Eli nothing but the best in their adventures moving forward.”

My family cannot thank the NCU staff and family enough for supporting us while coaching together this season,” added Pitre. “To our team manager, Katelin Downes, to our athletes, and to our athlete's families, thank you for all the love and care you bestowed upon Eli on the road and at home!”

The search for a new head coach will begin immediately for a team that returns 11 athletes including the top four hitters from 2017, three of whom are freshmen. Coach Pitre said, “The returning group is one who will continue to represent the relentless work ethic the NCU volleyball program has come to be known for among coaches in the CCC.”

“While we are back in the hunt for a new leader for our volleyball team,” added Anderson, “Kelly and Robbie, along with former assistant Jason Corwin, have been instrumental in ascending the program to a level that is highly competitive on the court, in the classroom as well as being great representatives for NCU in and outside of our community.
