Ah You-Dias Leads No. 7 EOU to 62-50 Victory Over No. 2 LCS 11/24/2017 7:33:47 PM CALDWELL, Idaho. – Behind a 26-point second quarter and a double-double by junior All-American guard Maya Ah You-Dias, the No. 7 Eastern Oregon women’s basketball team defeated No. 2 Lewis-Clark State 62-50 on Friday at the 18th annual Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic. Ah You-Dias 24 points while pulling down 13 rebounds to lead the Mountaineers (6-1) their second victory of the young season over NAIA Division I opponent Lewis-Clark State (6-2). After shooting just 25 percent in the opening 10 minutes and trailing 16-8, the Mounties shot a blistering 10-for-18 from the floor in the second quarter to take a 34-26 lead at halftime. In the second half, it was the Ah You-Dias show as the All-American scored 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting. In the fourth quarter alone, Ah You-Dias scored 13 of the team’s 15 points to put the game away against the top-ranked Warriors. Lewis-Clark State, after going 35-2 last season, has lost just two games this year with both coming at the hands of the Mountaineers. Junior guard Maren Herrud posted 10 points, while senior guard Reece Bauer added eight and seven boards. Seniors Payton Parrish and Mariah Swanson and sophomore Kate Hogan each scored six points. EOU shot 41.9 percent from the floor in the game with 26 points in the paint. Defensively, the Mounties forced 13 turnovers and limited the Warriors to 34.6 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from the behind the arc. In the 24-point second quarter, the Mountaineers used runs of seven and eight points to turn an eight-point deficit into an eight-point lead. Harrud led the way with seven points in the offensive outburst while Parrish had all six of her points in the quarter. Bauer added five and Swanson chipped in with four points as the Mounties ended the quarter on an 8-0 run. The Blue and Gold finish the Lady Yote Classic on Saturday at 3 p.m. Mountain time, battling another NAIA Division I Top-25 opponent in No. 16 Montana Western. The Mounties then start up Cascade Collegiate Conference play, visiting Southern Oregon on Dec. 2.
