SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The No. 10-ranked Corban University volleyball team opened the 2017 NAIA National Championship pool play on Tuesday with a straight-set sweep of (RV) Missouri Valley College (25-22, 25-17, 28-26). The win marks Corban's third win at the NAIA Championship final site in program history, adding to last year's two wins the Warriors recorded in Sioux City.

"It was great to come out firing on all cylinders and get a three-set win," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "At the national championships, you cannot let down at all. I was proud of how the girls kept their focus throughout the match! Our defense was key both at the net and in the back court!"

The triumph also moves the Navy and Gold to 25 wins on the campaign, tying last year's mark of 25 wins for most since 1997.

After jumping ahead in the first set and taking a big advantage, Corban held on for the narrow three-point set win. The Warriors then came from behind in the second set and dominated to win 25-17. In the final stanza, it was back-and-forth all the way through, with the Warriors pulling out the big victory late thanks to a kill from Adriana Aguayo.

Aguayo totaled 12 kills on the night, while Amber Parker led the way with 14 kills. Alaina Gentili added double-digit kills with 11, while Marandah Boeder notched eight kills on a .444 hitting mark.

Madison Milligan provided a solid all-around effort with 15 digs and 19 assists, while Cierra Leopoldino tallied a team-best 26 assists to go with nine digs.

Defensively, Haley Wells registered a team-leading 21 digs, while the team totaled 11 blocks, with Boeder tallying one solo block and six block assists to lead the way at the net.

Following the match, Aguayo talked about the big win. CLICK HERE to watch the interview.

As a team, Corban hit for a .254 mark, while MVC hit for just a .082 clip, much due to Corban's standout defense.

Corban (25-7) returns to the court tomorrow at 2 p.m. PST against Indiana Wesleyan University. Live stats and live video will be available here.
