No. 10 Warrior VB Stumbles to No. 7 Park – Still Advances to NAIA Final 16

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The No. 10-ranked Corban University volleyball team was unable to overcome a .140 hitting percentage en route to a straight-set defeat to No. 7 Park University (Mo.) on Thursday afternoon (25-20, 25-16, 25-20). The Warriors still advance to the NAIA Final 16 as the No. 2 seed from Pool G, however, and will take on the No. 1 seed from Pool H at 7 a.m. PST on Friday morning.

The loss snapped Corban's nine-match winning streak which dated back to over a month ago on October 20. The Warriors will find out who they play later tonight when Pool H finishes its final matches to determine the top-two seeds from the group.

Corban's .140 hitting mark was its third lowest of the year, as the Warriors totaled 36 kills and 19 errors. Alaina Gentili led the way with 11 kills on a .320 hitting mark, while Amber Parker tallied six and Marandah Boeder five. Demi Winters and Bethany Filipenko were both efficient on the night, as Winters totaled three kills at a .500 hitting clip, while Filipenko registered five kills at a .625 hitting mark.

Both Madison Milligan and Cierra Leopoldino totaled 17 kills apiece, while Parker led the way defensively with 20 digs. At the net, the Warriors totaled nine blocks, but defensively for the Pirates (32-3), they racked up 62 digs to Corban's 48 digs.

Corban (26-8) will learn who it will faces in the NAIA Final tonight, and with a number of scenarios in play, it could be a number of different teams from Pool G. Stay tuned at CorbanWarriors.com to see which matchup it will be.
