Katie Michkiosky scored two goals in the NU victory Eagles Play Their Way to CCC Title Game 11/6/2017 9:32:45 AM SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – It's déjà vu all over again as the NU Eagle have played themselves into the CCC Women Soccer Championships final with a come from behind, 3-1, victory over Corban tonight at Willamalane Park. This is the second straight year the Eagles have battled their way to the title game. Corban got off to a quick start just 5:37 into the game when Lexi McQuery found teammate Heidi Fronk's through ball and put it into the net for a 1-0 Warrior lead. But less than two minutes later, Rylee Rassier got the equalizer as she took a through ball from Jubilee Zevenbergen and scored from the left corner of the box. With less than 4 minutes to go in the half, Katie Michkiosky would get the game winner at 41:22 as she would take Madison Morrow's pass and put the ball into the center of the net. The score would remain the same the remainder of the half and well into the second, but Michkiosky would score the game clincher in the 83rd minute as Hannah Nicholson would give Michkiosky a through ball which Katie would bury into the right side of the net. Even with the four goals scored, the defenses were tough on both sides as a total of 14 shots combined were taken, 9 by the Eagles and 5 by the Warriors. Michkiosky led the Eagles (11-8) with 3 shots, 2 shots on goal and the 2 goals. Kat Sanchez was tough in goal making one save. Sheyenne Brusven took the loss for Corban (7-4-2) in goal finishing with 3 saves in 90 minutes of play. "After going behind early, I am so proud of the way we battled tonight to grind out the win," commented Bryan Chud, NU head coach. "We have focused on bringing energy to these games, and the girls have been brilliant the last two nights." NU faces No. 1 seed Eastern Oregon on Monday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m., in the championship game at Willamalane Park in Springfield.
