Gentili and Garlie Headline Volleyball All-Conference Selections

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Corban’s Alaina Gentili and Eastern Oregon’s Madisen Garlie were named the 2017 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) volleyball Co-Players of the Year after voting by the league’s head coaches the conference office announced.
 
Gentili, a senior from Spokane Valley, Wash., led the Warriors to a 17-3 CCC record. The all- around player was second in the league in hitting percentage at .331 which ranks twenty-third nationally. Gentili also registered 96 blocks on the season. Gentili was named the CCC Red Lion Hitter of the Week twice during the season.
 
Garlie, a senior from Challis, Idaho, created havoc at the net for opposing hitters and ranks third in the NAIA in blocks with 161. Garlie also became the Mountaineers career block assists leader with 462.
 
Eastern Oregon’s Kiley McMurtrey was selected as the conference Freshman of the Year after collecting 462 digs from her defensive specialist position.
 
Alysanne Van Dyke from Northwest University was chosen as the Libero of the Year. The senior from Edmonds, Wash., led the conference with 594 digs. Van Dyke was also named the CCC Red Lion Defensive Player of the Week on five different occasions.
 
Corban’s Kim McLain was selected as the Coach of the Year. In her third season at the helm McLain has taken a program that was 3-15 in CCC play the season before her arrival to a history making one claiming their first ever conference regular season championship.
