Saints Pull Away From Geoducks in Second Half

LACEY – After a close first half, Saint Martin's pulled away from The Evergreen State College in the final 20 minutes on the way to an 85-57 non-conference men's basketball win Tuesday night at Marcus Pavilion.

The Geoducks (1-11) trailed by just three points, 35-32, at the intermission, but the Saints (8-2) dominated the last 20 minutes. After shooting just 36 percent in the opening half, Saint Martin's hit 58 percent in the second period, including 7-for-14 from three-point range.

Ryan Quigley scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Shawn Spencer had nine points and eight rebounds to lead the Geoducks, who shot 43 percent from the field.

Saint Martin's, which scored 25 points off of 22 Evergreen turnovers, shot 48 percent overall and 36 percent from three-point range.

EJ Boyce was deadly from long-range for the hosts, shooting 8-for-13 in scoring a game-high 24 points. The team's leading scorer, Luke Chaves, added 13 points and eight assists.

Evergreen returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday when Portland Bible College comes to Costantino Recreation Center for the final non-conference game of the 2017-18 season.
