Walla Walla Unable to Keep Up With Corban

College Place, Wash. – The Warriors insides presence proved to be too much for Walla Walla in the Wolves Cascade Collegiate Conference opener. Corban was up by 15 at the half, and the game ended 76-38 in favor of the Warriors. The Warriors started off strong, jumping up 5-0 on the Wolves . Corban was consistent shooting the ball all night. Carolina Montes scored the first basket for the Wolves, and ended the first quarter with 9 points for Walla Walla. It may have been a tough loss for the Wolves, but Carolina Montes scoring was a bright spot for Walla Walla.
The Wolves started out the second quarter strong with a 3 pointer by Kai Chamberlain. With 5 minutes left, Lexi Ehlers hit a jumper to pull the Wolves within eight points. With two minutes left in the half, Morgan Stanyer completed the old fashion three-point play as things were looking up for Walla Walla. Corban responded by going on an 8-3 run just before the half and extended their lead to 15 points heading into half time, 36-21.
The third quarter was a slow start for the Wolves, and the Warriors were up 44-21 with 5 minutes left in the quarter. Montes made three free-throws in a row after getting fouled an a jumper to give Walla Walla their first points of the quarter. The Wolves came up with just seven points in the quarter and went into the fourth down 56-28.
Corban add 20 more points in the fourth as they continued to find ways to score against Walla Walla. The Wolves Montes and Stanyer combined to score all 10 of Walla Walla's fourth quarter points. Corban shot 46% from the field and held Walla Walla to a mere 23% on the way to a 76-38 victory.
Corban's Maci Bozett led the Warriors in scoring. Walla Walla's Carolina Montes scored a game high 22 points, Sarah Halversen led the team in rebounding with five, and Lexi Ehlers dished out three assists. The Wolves play against Corban tomorrow at 1pm, and would love your support.
