OLYMPIA - The Evergreen State College set a single-game scoring record in defeating the visiting Walla Walla Wolves, 102-68, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball game played Sunday afternoon inside Costantino Recreation Center.

Evergreen's two seniors, Gabi Fenumiai and Autumn Moorcroft, led the way as the Geoducks (6-19 overall, 5-13 CCC) moved into a tie with Multnomah for the eighth-and-final spot in the conference postseason tournament slated to start on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Evergreen plays at Warner Pacific next Friday and then concludes the regular season at Multnomah in Portland, Ore., next Saturday night.

The former single-game scoring record of 98 points came in a win over Walla Walla on Jan. 17, 2016, and Fenumiai also established an Evergreen single-game record with 36 points in that same contest.

The standout post player from Juneau, Alaska, came close to that number this afternoon, finishing with 34 points to go along with 10 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season. Moorcroft, from Mossyrock, registered a career-high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the campaign. She added to an outstanding overall game with six assists.

Evergreen raced out to a 26-7 lead through the first quarter behind eight points from Moorcroft, and the game was never really in doubt after that. The Geoducks took a 54-28 lead at the half before a scoring fest for both teams over the final 20 minutes. Fenumiai did most of her damage during the third and fourth quarters with 24 of her total.

The hosts shot at least 52 percent during each quarter, including better than 60 percent during the middle periods, and finished at 57 percent on 42-for-74 accuracy. They compiled 33 assists to establish a new single-game record, beating by one the 32 they recorded in the record-setting win over Walla Walla last season.

Moorcroft was 11-for-13 from the field on the way to her 26 points, while Fenumiai finished 15-for-22. Zaria Jones ended the game with 13 points and six assists and Corina Tacardon drained a trio of three pointers while adding a game-high eight assists.

Alyssa Blankenship scored 19 points and both Sierra Briggs and Emily Downs added 14 for the Wolves (2-22, 0-18). Briggs was the team leader with seven rebounds and three assists for Walla Walla, which shot 38 percent from the field (24-for-63).
