Second Half Surge Pushes Oregon Tech Past Corban
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech hits triple digits on senior day, as the Hustlin’ Owls put up a score of 102-75 over the Warriors of Corban on Danny Miles Court.
In a close first half battle back and forth, both the Hustin’ Owls of Oregon Tech and the Warriors of Corban University put on a strong offensive performance. The contest opened up with two free-throws, followed by a deep three-pointer for Tech senior Brandon Halter that got the crowd involved from the start of the game. What looked like strong momentum for Tech was slowed down by Corban finding their offensive rhythm. As the half wore on, neither team was able to pull away. Each team going on short streaks of scoring before the other team responded. As the clock ran out for the half, the scores would be separated by just 6-points, at 52-46 in favor of the home team.
The second half of play saw the Hustlin’ Owls take the game to a different energy level that put the Warriors on their heels. Tech went on a 19-5 run to start the half. Back-to-back three-pointers by Halter stretched the lead to 20 points with the score 71-51 and 15:00 minutes still left to play in the game. Holding nothing back, the Owls continued to play lockdown defense while clicking on the offensive end. The game pushed forward with Tech maintaining control of the floor, as they reached triple digits on a Quim Vallve’ three-pointer, taking the final score to 102-75.
On the night, Corban was led by Jake Love with 18 points, while Chris Martin added 16.
Oregon Tech had four players in double-digits. Leading the way was Brandon Halter with 25 points. Joel Yellow Owl and Tyler Van Kirk contributed double-doubles on the afternoon, with Yellow Owl scoring 18 points and 11 assists, and Van Kirk with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Seth Erickson added 15 points of his own.
