PORTLAND, Ore. – The visiting Northwest University Eagles (19-8, 11-8 CCC) defeated Multnomah (6-23, 2-17 CCC) on Friday night, 103-51. Multnomah struggled collectively, shooting only 24 percent from the field and an uncharacteristic 6.7% from behind the line. Moe Keita handled the load for the Lions picking up a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, including 4 blocks on the night.
It was all Moe Keita in the opening minutes, scoring Multnomah's first 8 points. The Lions kept the game close initially, trailing by one (11-10) after Darius Redrick's jumper with 13:32 left in the first half. The Eagles answered Multnomah's competitive start, propelling themselves ahead of the Lions with a 10-0 run to mark a 21-10 lead. The next 10 minutes saw a 27-12 run by the Eagles, and a deep 3-pointer at the buzzer would conclude the half, 52-25.
Second half action almost perfectly mirrored the opening 20 minutes of play, with the Eagles outscoring the Lions, 51-26. Multnomah's unusual shooting led to the loss, with the Lions only hitting 18% of their shots in the second half, and 24% in the contest. Keita led the Lions with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks; Redrick ended the game with 11 points. Northwest had four players in double-figures (Dupree 21, Tucakovic 11, Hicks 11, & Martion 10) and 13 of 14 players scoring in the win.
