LA GRANDE, Ore. – The women’s basketball programs from Eastern Oregon University and Southern Oregon University could add another chapter to their storied rivalry if game results end up a certain way this, the final weekend of regular season play.

If the No. 5 in the country Raiders win both home games against Northwest Christian and Corban and the No. 17 Mountaineers defeat Walla Walla the teams will share the CCC regular season title at 18-2, but that is not all at stake as the CCC tournament will get underway Tuesday February 21st.

If the above scenario plays out the teams will not only have identical records, but they could be tied through every tiebreaker with the final deciding factor a coin flip for seeding purposes. Conference guidelines list the following as tiebreaker procedures; head to head results, record against .500 and above teams in conference, record against teams in ascending order of conference finish, sempert point system for league games and finally a coin flip.

At stake in a coin flip is the No. 1 seed in the tournament, as well as, which team will receive the automatic qualifier to the NAIA National tournament. Guidelines state that when two teams which tie for the regular season championship reach the coin flip tiebreaker:

-Coin toss winner earns the automatic bid to the NAIA Tournament that is awarded the regular season champion (and will be designated the No. 2 seed in the CCC Tournament).
- Coin toss loser is designated the No. 1 seed in the CCC Tournament and will play the No. 8 seed in the first round.

CCC Commissioner Rob Cashell announced that in the event a coin toss is necessary that it will be conducted at the conclusion of the EOU and SOU games on Sunday. The toss will be available for fans to view on the EOU vs. WWU webcast on CCCWEBTV at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ccc/.

COIN TOSS (if necessary)
- It will be predetermine which team is heads and which is tails by a blind draw prior to Sunday and will be announce right before the coin flip
- An official CCC coin (CCC/NAIA logo’s will be used)
- Commissioner Cashell will conduct the flip
