Lady Wolves Struggle Against a Talented Southern Oregon Team

College Place, Wash- The Southern Oregon Raiders (22-2, 14-1) got back to their winning ways on Friday against the Wolves (2-19, 0-15), beating them by a score of 102-52 here at Windemuth Court
By the Numbers
- The Raiders' defense was led by Daranda Hinkey who tallied six steals. Kinkey also had 14 points, and 8 assists.
- The Raiders' offense was powered by Sydney Mullings who went 13-16 from the field for 27 points, and added 9 rebounds.
- Emily Downs contributed will on the offensive end for the Wolves, scoring 20 points.
- The Wolves shot well from the free throw line, going 11-15 on the night.
How it Happened
The Raiders opened the game with a quick run, gaining a 6-0 lead before Alyssa Blankenship scored the first points for the Wolves. Walla Walla kept the game close for the opening few minutes, as a pull-up jumper from Emily Downs pulled the Wolves within two at 10-12 with 5 minutes remaining in the first quarter. A triple from SOU's Delaney Sparling gave the Raiders an eight point lead at 18-10 with three and a half minutes left, before it ballooned to 14 with two minutes left. Southern Oregon headed into the second quarter with a 34-16 lead.
The Raiders started the second quarter with and 11-2 run to take a 45-18 lead. Then a steal and layup by Autumn Durand put the Wolves down 47-18 and forced head coach Paul Jessup to call a timeout. The Raiders lead continued to expand as two straight buckets from Sydney Mullings gave SOU a 66-30 lead headed into halftime.
Southern Oregon continued to poor on the offense in the second half, showing no signs of letting up as they crept closer to the century mark in points. They were able to hit the 100 points mark midway through the fourth when Courtney Setzer hit an open shot in the paint. The Raiders cruised to the finish line, winning the game by a score of 102-52.
