PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior Miranda Schmillen's 23 points proved to not be enough for the Lions Saturday night. The Yotes 19-9 third quarter spoiled the Lions competitive first half, resulting in a 60-47 win for the visiting College of Idaho Yotes (10-12, 10-6 CCC). The loss puts the Lions at 6-18, 4-12 CCC, sitting 8
th overall.
The first quarter got things started on an active note, with both teams exchanging baskets and switching leads five times. The Lions took the lead going into the second quarter (12-10) off an impressive rebound put-back by Senior Miranda Schmillen, who contributed six points in the opening 10 minutes.
Multnomah continued to hang tight with the Lady Yotes throughout the rest of the half, with College of Idaho leading 24-23. Halftime adjustments from the Yotes showed in their 53.8% shooting in the second half. Despite falling behind from a shaky third quarter, Multnomah battled back to bring the game within 8, with 5:30 left, off Senior Katherine Edmonds layup from Lacie Kamper. The Lady Yotes would push away in the closing minutes to take the win, 60-47.
Miranda Schmillen led the Lions with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Katherine Edmonds added 9 points while grabbing 7 boards. College of Idaho had three players in double digits: Kiara Skinner (20), Petra Lumpert (16) and Jaycin Tini (13).
