Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period January 30-February 5.
Jay Mayernik
Men’s Basketball
Northwest Christian’s Jay Mayernik has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week of the week.
Mayernik, a senior from Springfield, Ore., recorded three straight double-doubles on the week as he averaged 18.7 points and 14.7 rebounds in one non-conference and two conference wins.
In the non-conference game vs. New Hope Christian, Mayernik notched the first ever 20-point, 20- rebound effort in school history.

Matt East
Men’s Indoor-Track
Southern Oregon’s Matt East has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
East, a junior from Modesto, Calif., recorded two 3
rd place finishes while competing in the Jackson Invite.
East ran a 22.09 in the 200 meter dash and a 6.96 in the 60 meter dash. Over 40 competitors were in each race. His mark in the 200 meters is the second best in the NAIA so far this year.

Seth Gretz
Men’s Indoor-Field
Oregon Tech’s Seth Gretz has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Gretz, a junior form Rogue River, Ore., competing in the Sunshine open won the vault clearing 4.70 meters or 15’ 5”. He also set a school record in the long jump at 6.29 meters or 20’ 6” while competing in the men’s heptathlon.

Nohea Waiwaiole
Women’s Basketball
Oregon Tech’s Nohea Waiwaiole has been named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the week.
Waiwaiole, a sophomore from Portland, Ore., recorded 18-points and 4-rebounds in the Lady Owls upset win over No. 3 ranked Southern Oregon 72-69.
Waiwaiole followed the effort up with a 22-point, 7-rebound and 5-assist night against Walla Walla in the 114-41 victory.

Payton Jolley
Women’s Indoor-Field
Eastern Oregon’s Payton Jolley has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Jolley, a freshman from Nampa, Idaho, set a school record in the triple jump with a leap of 10.92 meters or 35.82 feet. The mark was good enough to place 8
th out of 15 competitors at the Jackson Invite in Nampa.

Jessa Perkinson
Women’s Indoor-Track
Southern Oregon’s Jessa Perkinson has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Perkinson, a junior from Roseberg, Ore., placed first in the 1-mile race at the Jackson invite over the weekend. Her time of 5:11.26 was best in the field of 14 runners.
