CCC schools garnered seven of the possible 11 CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees for men's and women's basketball.

CCC Dominates CoSIDA Academic All-District Basketball Selections

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) dominated the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District basketball selections on Thursday, as CCC member schools collected seven of the 11 possible honorees from the College Division District 4 for men’s and women’s basketball.

Of the award-winners, four were for men’s basketball from the CCC and three were for women’s basketball from the CCC. CoSIDA Academic All-District teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances both athletically and in the classroom. All of these award-winners now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.

District 4 is comprised of NAIA schools from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and Canada.

On the men’s side, Jack Hackman has been a key element to the success of the Northwest Christian University men’s basketball team which is currently ranked No. 6 in the NAIA. He is averaging 13.3 points per game and his three-point shooting percentage (.487) leads the Cascade Conference and is ranked in the top-ten in the NAIA. Hackman boasts a 3.99 cumulative GPA as an accounting major.

Corban University’s Joel Johnson boasts a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA as a Health Science major. While averaging a career-best 13.5 points per game during the 2016-17 campaign, Johnson is also hauling in 6.7 rebounds per game to lead the team. On top of those two marks, Johnson leads the entire NAIA Division II with a 71.0% field goal percentage.

With a 3.97 cumulative GPA as a Business Administration major, Corban University’s Caleb Dozier has played in all 26 games in 2016-17 for Corban. While averaging 5.0 points per game, he also hauls in 5.3 rebounds per game for second best on the team. In addition, he’s dished our 43 assists and notched seven steals while also shooting at an efficient rate of 42.1% from the floor.

Corban University’s AJ Monterossi, with a 3.86 cumulative GPA as a Business Administration major, has played in 25 games in 2016-17 while starting in 24. While racking up the most minutes played of anyone on the team with 602 total minutes during the current season, Monterossi is averaging 13.4 points per game and has dished out 97 assists on the year to average 3.9 assists per game.

On the women’s side, Southern Oregon University’s Toria Bradford boasts a 3.81 cumulative GPA as a Chemistry major and is the reigning CCC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. While averaging 11.4 points per game and 3.2 assists per game, her 3.4 steals per game rank second overall in conference play.

College of Idaho’s Petra Lumpert, an Exercise Physiology major who is in her second year with the Yotes, currently ranks among the top-10 in the CCC in seven different stat categories. With a 3.92 cumulative GPA, she leads the CCC in assists per game (4.6/game) and ranks second in the conference in scoring at 16.2 ppg.

Lastly, Northwest University’s Hannah Carlson has started in all 27 games this season for the Eagles at the forward position. She is the team’s second leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 10.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Recently named a Cascade Collegiate Conference Scholar Athlete, Carlson has been the Eagles’ leading rebounder in the last four out of five games. She is an English Literature major maintaining a 3.96 grade point average.
