Yotes Shut Out Eagles to Take Doubleheader
KIRKLAND, Wash. – The College of Idaho played fundamental softball holding Northwest University scoreless and limiting the Eagles to 9 hits in two games as they took both games of today’s conference doubleheader, 12-0 and 3-0. The Yotes’ Destiny Turner hit a home run in each game this afternoon.
Game 1 – College of Idaho 12, Northwest U 0 (5 innings)
The
Yotes put together a 12 run 10 hit attack as they blanked the Eagles in five innings, 12-0. Colette Robert pitched a 3-hitter as the C of I defense played error-free softball. The College of Idaho scored in every inning except the 6
th bringing in 2 runs in the first, 2 in the second and 1 run in the third wo build an early, 5-0 lead.
The
Yotes big inning was the 5
th as NU made a pitching change bringing in Rachel Hawley for Hannah
Yelas. C of I managed to score 5 runs on just one hit, but two costly NU errors led to
Yote scores. Colette was solid in the circle only allowing 5 NU base runners.

Harshaw had the only hits for Northwest U (7-17, 3-9 CCC). Hannah
Yelas went 4 innings in the circle giving up 7 runs on 9 hits.
For the College of Idaho (10-14, 6-6 CCC), Destiny Turner was 2 for 2 with 5 RBIs. Kristin
Paulazzo was 2 for 3, scored once and had one RBI. Delaney Atkins went 2 for 2 and scored three times. Colette earned the win walking just two Eagles in five innings.
Game 2 – College of Idaho 3, Northwest U
Leading 3-0 in the bottom of the 7
th inning, the College of Idaho’s Delaney Atkins ended the game at the center field fence as she caught NU’s Maggie Harshaw’s long fly ball with the bases loaded to give the
Yotes an exciting 3-0 victory.
Northwest U’s Stephanie Granger and Ashley
Pesek were locked in a pitcher’s duel for 4 innings until the
Yotes came up with a run in the 5
th and two in the 6
th to earn the victory. Granger limited the
Yotes to 5 hits while
Pesek gave up just 6 Eagle hits in 7 innings.
After the Northwest U defense held the
Yotes scoreless while holding 5 runners on base for four innings, Kristin
Paulazzo hit a one out double to left field. With pinch runner,
Emmalie Griswold on third base and two out, Delaney Atkins came through with a double to left center to score Griswold to put the C of I up 1-0.
In the 6
th inning, Destiny Turner led off the inning for the
Yotes with a solo home run to center field. C of I got another run in on a bases loaded walk by Granger, giving the College of Idaho the 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the 7
th, Courtney Heard led off with a single for Northwest U and
Darian Godfrey hit an infield single to put two runners on base. Colette Robert would come in to relieve
Pesek. NU would load the bases with one out as Allie
Anderegg would be hit by a pitch, but Robert would settle down to strike out Savannah Rush and then Maggie
Harshaw would hit a deep drive into center field that Delaney Atkins would catch at the fence to end the game.
Northwest U was led by Aubrey
Slocum going 1 for 2 and five Eagles (7-18, 3-11 CCC) would go 1 for 3 from the plate. Stephanie Granger took the loss in the circle going 7 innings, giving up the 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4.
Destiny Turner went 1 for 4 with the solo home run and scored once for The College of Idaho (11-14, 8-6 CCC). Kristin
Paulazzo was 2 for 2 and Delaney Atkins was 1 for 4 with one RBI.
The same two teams will resume play with another doubleheader on Saturday morning with the first pitch at 11 a.m.
