Moates Leads Owls to Sweep of Beacons
EUGENE, Ore.- All American Tara Moates had 5-hits to lead No. 22 Oregon Tech to a Cascade Conference sweep, 6-4, and 6-0 over Northwest Christian University Friday afternoon at James Park. Tech Improves to 10-4 in CCC play and 19-7 on the year with the sweep. NCU drops to 2-22 on the year, and 2-11 in conference play with the today’s result.

Oregon Tech took a 3-0 lead with 3-runs in the 2
nd on 2-hits, 2-walks and a Beacons error highlighted by a Rachael Delamare 2 RBI single.
Tech added 3 more runs in the 3
rd to take a commanding 6-0 lead on a 3-run homer by Cassidy Hoglund.
Beacons chipped away with 1-run in the 3
rd, 2-runs in the 5
th and 1-run in the 7
th but Tech managed to hold on for the 6-4 win.
Tech’s Kelly Scott picked up the win in the circle to improve to 8-3 on the year.
Tara Moates led the Tech hit parade with 3-hits, with Rashaun Sells and Sydni Scott each adding 2-hits in the win.

The Hooter broke-open a scoreless game with 5-runs in the top of the 3
rd on 4-hits, 2-Beacon errors, 2-walks and a wild pitch, highlighted by a Moates’ double.
Tech added an insurance run in the 4
th on a Moates’ RBI single to take a 6-0 lead.
Tech’s Loryn Williams went the distance in the circle striking out 7 and allowing only 4-hits in picking up the shutout victory to improve to 5-5 on the year.
Moates and Sadie Birch led the Tech offense with 2-hits each. Moates improved her batting average to .449 on the year.
The two teams will play another doubleheader Saturday in Eugene with the first pitch scheduled for 11:00 am.
