Corban Women's Golf Named CCC Team of the Week
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Corban University women’s golf team has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Team of the Week for April 3-9, the conference office announced Monday.
Trailing 16th-ranked Oregon Tech by three strokes after the first day of the Multnomah Invite, the Warriors came back to defeat the Owls by one stroke, 638-637, to earn their first CCC tournament victory of the season Tuesday at the Stone Creek Golf Club in Oregon City.
Senior Carrie Wallace earned medalist honors by finishing 5-over par on a career-best 149 strokes for the tournament. She finished Day 1 tied atop the leaderboard after shooting a 76, then ran away with a four-stroke win by shooting a 73 in the second round.
Corban, which was 61-over as a team, also solid performances from Jenna Jensen in fifth place (+16), Faith Udy in sixth (+18) and Casey Jansen in a tie for seventh (+22).
The tournament win was the Warriors’ second overall this season: They also claimed Arizona Christian’s Firestorm Invitational on Nov. 22 in Phoenix. They’re currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll.
