Lady Owls Take Game 1, Settle for Split with Carroll
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.- No. 25 Oregon Tech took game one 9-7 over Carroll College as the Owls swept the Conference series three games to none. Carroll dominated game 2, winning 6-1, to salvage a win in the 4 game series. OIT improves to 24-8 on the year and 14-4 in CCC play with the Saints moving to 7-8 in CCC action and 11-12 on the year with today’s split.
Game 1- Oregon Tech 9 Carroll 7 (Conference)
For the second day in a row, Carroll jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the 1
st inning. The Saints started the game with 6 consecutive hits without an out to run Oregon Tech starting pitcher Kelly Scott. Carroll ended up with 7-hits in the inning.
Rashaun Sells cut the Saints lead in half with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. It was her second homer of the season.
Tech then took their first lead of the day, scoring 4-runs in the bottom of the third to take a 6-4 lead on an Ali Graham 2-run homer, her 7
th of the season.
Oregon Tech’s Rachael Delamare (Pictured by Kelly Caleb) made the play of the day robbing a home run from Allison Williams in the 5
th.
Carroll cut into the Tech lead with 1-run in the 6
th on 3-hits, making it a 1-run game.
Tech extended their lead to 9-5, scoring 3-runs in the bottom of the 6
th highlighted by a Tara Moates 2-run double.
Carroll rallied in the top of the 7
th scoring 2-runs on 4-hits to make it a 9-7 game but Tech was able to get the final out, leaving the tying run at 2
nd base.
The Saints out-hit Tech 17-8 with Allison Williams and Courtney Cloud each having 3-hits in the loss.
Loryn Williams picked up the win for OIT with Graham grabbing her 3
rd save of the year in the circle.
Sells led the Owls with 2-hits and 4-RBI in the game.
Game 2 – Carroll 6 Oregon Tech 1 (Non-conference)
The Fighting Saints took the early 1-0 lead taking advantage of a walk and 2-hits in the 2
nd inning.
Sadie Birch tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning, smashing her team leading 8
th home run of the season to deep left center field.
Carroll would take control of the game, scoring 5-runs in the top of the 3
rd highlighted by a Kendall Mooney 3-run homer.
Saints starter Courtney Schroeder pitched all 7-innings, allowing only 1-run and 7-hits, picking up the win and improving to 2-2 on the year.
Birch led the Owls with 3-hits in the game.
Oregon Tech will host Southern Oregon this Friday and Saturday at the OIT Softball Complex with doubleheaders scheduled for 2:00 pm and 11:00 am respectively.
