Frame Leads OIT to C of I Invite Championship
MERIDIAN, Idaho – Montana Frame shot a final round 74 to earn medalist honors in leading Oregon Tech to the team title of the College of Idaho Invitational at The Club at SpurWing.
OIT (290-311-313 – 914) had three golfers in the Top-10 to grab a five-stroke victory over Corban (301-302-316 – 919) and 21 strokes ahead of third-place Northwest Christian (311-315-309 – 935), who surged onto the podium with the best round of the day. Host C of I (298-315-327 – 940) and Warner Pacific (304-310-326 – 940) shared fourth, followed by Northwest Nazarene’s “B” team (311-315-318 – 944) and Walla Walla (336-330-342 – 1008). Multnomah competed in the tournament as an incomplete team.
Corban claimed the Cascade Conference regular-season crown with a 15-round stroke average of 295.3, ahead of OIT (297.5) and WPC (308.4). The automatic berth to Nationals will be determined in two weeks at the CCC Championships at Emerald Valley CC in Oregon.
Frame (71-75-74 – 220) erased a one-stroke deficit heading into today’s final round with his 3-over-par final 18, finishing one stroke ahead of WPC’s Jeremie Eloy (72-76-73 – 221) and two strokes ahead of yesterday’s leader, Kasey Crossland (74-71-77 – 222) of Corban.
Tech had two others in the Top-10 – Kyle Wolf (74-79-76 – 229) in fourth and Jared McBride (77-77-77 – 231) in a four-way tie for seventh. Others in the Top-10 included Josh Goins (78-77-74 – 229) of NCU in fourth; Jacob Berg (76-75-79 – 230) of WPC in sixth, with Aaron Seabrook (78-78-75 – 231) of Corban and Derek Thompson (75-77-79 – 231) of NNU tied for seventh.
The Yotes were paced by freshman Clancy Cockerham (74-78-79 – 231), finishing in the logjam in seventh-place – his best finish of the season. Reed Maggard (71-82-81 – 234) placed 14th and both Reed Burroughs (79-78-84 – 241) and Blake Schulte (81-77-83 – 241) in 22nd.
Jarrett Johnson (74-80-89 – 243) placed 28th to lead WWU, with Mikey Chown (81-84-81 – 246) placing 32nd to lead MU.
