OIT Leads Corban By 2 Strokes After 36 Holes in Idaho

MERIDIAN, Idaho – The top round of the morning helped Oregon Tech to the 36-hole lead after the opening day of the College of Idaho Invitational at The Club at SpurWing.
 
The Owls (290-311 – 601) carded a stellar 6-over-par opening round and held off rival Corban (301-302 – 603), who had the top afternoon round, heading into tomorrow’s final 18.
 
Host College of Idaho (298-315 – 613) is in third, with their 14-over-par first round score their best Cascade Conference mark of the season.  The Yotes are a stroke clear of Warner Pacific (304-310 – 614) and Northwest Christian (311-315 – 626) in fifth.
 
Kasey Crossland (74-71 – 145) of Corban holds the Day 1 lead on the 7,179 yard, par-71 track, used a second-round even-par score to pull one stroke ahead of OIT’s Montana Frame (71-75 – 146).  Jeremie Eloy (72-76 – 148) is three strokes back, followed by Corban’s Devery Stewart (72-77 – 149) and OIT’s Nathan Hunter (72-78 – 150).
 
The Yotes are paced by freshman Clancy Cockerham (74-78 – 152) at 10-over-par, sitting in a tie for seventh, with Reed Maggard (71-82 – 153) in ninth after holding a share of the Round 1 lead after a season-best even-par opening circuit.
 
Derek Thompson (75-77 – 152) is in seventh to lead Northwest Nazarene’s “B” team; Levi Dean (76-77 – 153) sits in ninth to lead NCU; Jarrett Johnson (74-80 – 154) is in 12-place to lead Walla Walla; with Mikey Chown (81-84 – 165) the top golfer for Multnomah.
 
The final 18 holes will start tomorrow with a 10 a.m. shotgun start which will determine the regular-season CCC championship.
