Corban Softball Named Team of the Week
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Corban University softball team has been named “Team of the Week” for March 27-April 2, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
The Warriors used a 6-2 showing, including a 4-2 mark in CCC play, to jump into first place in the league standings.
Corban, which is receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll, split their four game series against No. 22 Oregon Tech on Monday and Tuesday winning the 3rd CCC counter 4-2, and also winning the 4th game that counts in overall record as a non-conference affair, 9-0 in 5 innings.
The weekend did not get any easier for the Warriors as they welcomed No. 18 and league leader Southern Oregon to Salem. Because of field conditions this spring it was the first time Corban has been able to actually host home game son their own field and they made the most of it sweeping the Raiders 5-2,6-5 (9 inn), 3-0 and 1-0. The two shutouts on Sunday were the first time SOU has been shutout thus far in the 2017 campaign
Corban (26-6, 12-3 CCC) hits the road next weekend to Montana for a four-game series at the University of Great Falls. Games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
