CCC Multi-Event Championships Set for Action in Hermiston

HERMISTON, Ore. – With the track and field season winding down and the CCC championship just three weeks away, six Cascade Collegiate Conference teams are set to battle it out in the CCC Multi-Event Championships presented by US Bank on Thursday and Friday.
 
College of Idaho, Corban, Eastern Oregon, Northwest, Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon will take to Hermiston with a total of 19 student-athletes, all with the hopes of bringing a conference title to their school.
 
The Yotes will be sending seven student athletes, junior Maddie Brown, junior Allison Cossins, sophomore Kami Hawkins, sophomore Kimber Hawkins, freshman Kristopher Kostelecky, freshman Matt McLaughlin and junior Brooks Ney.
 
Five Warriors will be in attendance, sophomore Lindsay Asplund, junior Jason Bracken, and the freshman trio of Seth Larson, Michael Schmidt and Regan Shira.
 
Representing EOU will be three Mountaineers, sophomore Paige Dodd, junior Max Fahlgren and senior Jeremiah Woods.
 
Two Owls out of OIT will be competing, junior Seth Gretz and sophomore Amber Von Essen, the pair will each hope to take a title back to Klamath Falls.
 
Finally, Northwest and SOU will each be back by one student-athlete each, as sophomore Joe Dotson will back the Raiders, while sophomore Emily Campbell will appear for the Eagles.
 
WOMEN
In the heptahlon, Corban and College of Idaho both have athletes with experience this season. Asplund scored 3,970 points in the event at the Pacific Combined back in March.
 
For the Yotes, Kami Hawkins tallied 3,809 points in the Sacramento State Hornet Invite on March 17 in California.  
 
MEN
Three athletes participating in the decathlon have previous 2017 experience, including SOU’s Dotson who earned 6,304 points at the 2017 American River Invite.
 
Corban’s Schmidt racked up 6,056 points at the Pacific Combined, while COI’s Ney netted 5,734 points at the Sacramento State Hornet Invite.
 
WATCH
EOU will be hosting this year’s Multis at Hermiston High School in Hermiston, Oregon. Competition is set to start both days at 10 a.m. PST.
