HERMISTON, Ore. – As the dust settled on day one of the CCC Multi-Event Championships presented by US Bank, a Mountaineer and a Warrior led the crowd of 19 student-athletes in the end of the day results.
After five events, leading for the men was junior Jason Bracken of Corban with 3,471 points. For the women, EOU’s sophomore Paige Dodd racked up 2,627 over four events.
Bracken took first in the shot put with a toss of 13.67 meters, while also earning second in the high jump with a leap of 1.89 meters.
Dodd carded first in the high jump, jumping 1.59 meters, second in the shot put (9.28 meters) and third in the 100-meter hurdles, running a 16.46.
WOMEN
Sitting just 20 points behind Dodd in second is Amber Von Essen of Oregon Tech with 2,607 points. The sophomore took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.55 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.45. Von Essen also earned third in the shot put (8.56 meters) and the high jump (1.44 meters).
Kami Hawkins sits at third with 2,502 points, as the Yote tallied second in the 100-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash. Her fellow Yote, Allison Cossins sits at sixth with 2,179 points, but took home first in the shot put, throwing 9.62 meters.
Currently in fourth place is COI’s Maddie Brown with 2,402 points, followed by Corban’s Lindsay Asplund with 2,326 points. Kimber Hawkins of College of Idaho is placed at seventh with 2,144 points, while Northwest’s Emily Campbell sits at number eight with 1,505 points.
MEN
COI freshman Kristopher Kostelecky currently is placed second with 3,360 points. The freshman took first in the high jump with a 1.95-meter jump, second in the long jump (6.32 meters), and third in the 100-meter dash, running an 11.27.
Oregon Tech’s Seth Gretz rounds out the top three with 3,297 points, just 13 points ahead of fourth place. Gretz finished first in the long jump, jumping 6.40 meters and first in the 400 with a time of 52.65.
SOU’s Joe Dotson is in fourth with 3,284 points. Corban’s Michael Schmidt took first in the 100-meter dash, running an 11.24 but is placed fifth with 3,206 points. Sixth place currently falls to Schmidt’s fellow freshman Warrior, Regan Shira with 3,140 points. COI’s Brooks Ney racked up 3,128 points and is in seventh place.
Senior Jeremiah Woods of EOU earned 2,937 points placing in at eighth, while Yote Matt McLaughlin is ninth with 2,916 points. Rounding out the student-athletes in tenth and eleventh is Max Fahlgren of EOU and Seth Larson of Corban who have earned 2,780 points and 2,511 points respectively.
