Lewis-Clark State Baseball Named CCC Team of the Week
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Lewis-Clark State College (Idaho) baseball team has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Team of the Week, the conference office announced Sunday, after moving back into first place in the NAIA West with a four-game sweep of The College of Idaho.
The 17th-ranked Warriors (31-12 overall, 18-7 conference) extended their season-best win streak to 12 games by defeating the Yotes by scores of 14-2, 13-3, 12-1 and 4-0 in a series that started on Friday and concluded on Sunday. They entered the weekend in second place but are now two games up in the loss column on British Columbia going into their series next week at Corban that will mark the end of the regular season.
C of I had only given up 12 runs or more once this season before the Warriors’ offensive explosion, which consisted of 43 hits and seven home runs in the series. The Warriors hit seven home runs: J.J. Robinson and Brock Ephan went deep three times apiece, and the duo combined to drive in in 18 runs.
The Warriors’ starting pitchers – Connor Brogdon, Kevin Hamann, Matt Fish and Rian Bassett – were also dominant, combining to record 29 strikeouts and hold C of I to five earned runs in 22 innings.
The Warriors are seeking their seventh consecutive regular-season title.
