Complete Results Through Round One
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – One round is in the books and 18 holes remain in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s Golf Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, and host Northwest Christian University has jumped out to a six-shot lead at Springfield Golf Club.
The Beacons scored a team 302 and had four players place in the top-ten as they grabbed a six-shot lead over regular-season champion Corban University (308). Warner Pacific sat just two shots behind the Warriors in third (310). Oregon Tech and The College of Idaho finished the first day in a fourth-place tie, 22 shots behind the Beacons (324).
NCU Sophomore Josh Goins, the defending CCC Individual Champion fired a two-under 70 to stake himself to a one-stroke lead over Corban’s Kasey Crossland. The pair were the only two to post sub-par rounds on a wet and blustery day one.
Oregon Tech’s Montana Frame (73) was close behind in third, followed in fourth by Warner Pacific’s Jacob Berg (74). Five players carded a 77 to claim a fifth-place tie.
Tuesday’s second round will conclude the 2017 CCC tournament. The winning team will earn the conference automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship, May 16-19 at TPC Deer Run in Silvis, Illinois.
