SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – With four golfers in the top ten, regular season champion Oregon Tech has built a comfortable lead at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Golf championship, presented by U.S. Bank. The Owls hold a 15-shot lead over Corban as Janelle Ferlan leads the field by six strokes.
 
Ferlan shot a 2-over 74 and was the only golfer to break 80 in a wet and windy first round. Teammate Kylie Collom was second with an 80, followed closely by Corban’s Casey Jansen in third with a score of 81. Natalie Mullins (83) from The College of Idaho and OIT’s Stephanie Koza (84) round out the top-five.
 
As a team, Oregon Tech shot a 326 to build a substantial advantage over Corban (341). The College of Idaho was in third (347) and Walla Walla University rounded out the team scoring in fourth (531).
 
The CCC Championship will conclude on Tuesday. The winner of the conference tournament will earn the CCC’s automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship, May 23-26 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
