Warner Pacific Soccer Welcomes Troy Ready as Head Coach
PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific College has announced that
Troy Ready will be the new head coach of the Knight men's soccer program.
Ready is familiar with Warner Pacific and the Cascade Conference, having served as an assistant at WPC under former head coach Bernie Fagan in 2013, and as an assistant coach for Corban University in 2015 and 2016.
As a player, Ready (pronounced
Reedy) attended the University of Washington from 1999-2003 and was the Huskies leading scorer as a senior. He was named PAC-10 All-League for his efforts. Drafted in the 1st Round by the Seattle Sounders, he opted for trials at two clubs in Norway's 1st Division.
After returning to the USA, Ready played for the Spokane Shadow (PDL), Cascade Surge (PDL), and then for the Portland Timbers from 2006-08. He then moved to Tajikistan where he played and coached for Tajik League champions Vakhsh Qughonteppa, and was a goalkeeping director and staff coach for the Tajik National Team and Tajik Soccer Federation.
Troy also has a passion to use the platform of soccer for community development. He is currently serving in his 4th season as the chaplain for the Portland Timbers, was co-humanitarian of the year as a player, and spent 4 years in Central Asia using soccer as a vehicle for relief and development. His further involvement with the Timbers organization includes working with the Timbers U-23 team for the past 3 seasons as an assistant coach.
In addition, he was recently named head coach of the Vancouver Victory, an elite men's amateur team that is part of the Evergreen Premier League which allows for college and post-college age players to feature their skills on hometown clubs throughout the state of Washington.
"We are so excited to have Troy join our coaching staff," said Interim Athletic Director
Frank Johnson. "His unique and meaningful experience as a player and coach fits so well with our mission at Warner Pacific. He is a man of genuine faith in Jesus Christ, and his soccer qualifications speak for themselves. I can't wait to see what he will accomplish with our soccer program!"
Ready obtained his USSF "A" coaching license in 2015, and the Asian Football Confederation "B" coaching license in 2013. Troy and his wife, Jenny, have been married for 12 years and have three sons (Myles, 8), (Keats, 6), and Tanner (3). In his free time you'll find him hanging with his friends and family, playing the guitar, or trying to figure out how to fly fish.
