Owls Fall to No. 4 Marian to End Season

Costa Mesa, Calif. -  For the second day in a row Oregon Tech lost to No. 4 ranked Marian (Ind.).  Today however, the loss hurt a little more as the Knights ended the Owls’ season with a 7-0 win. OIT’s season ends with a record of 36-17. Marian will continue on to the NAIA World Series May 26th in Clermont, Fla.
 
Marian starting pitcher Breena Smith pitched a complete game 7-hit shut-out to improve to 27-0 in the circle.
 
The Knights scored the game’s first run in the 2nd inning on 2-hits. They then opened up the game with 4-runs on 5-hits to take a 5-0 lead in the top of the 4th.
 
Marian finished off their scoring with 2-runs in the 6th to win 7-0.
 
The Owls had several opportunities to score but never could come up with the big hit, leaving 8-runners on base in the loss.
 
Katie Virtue led the Owls with 3-hits in 4 at bats.
