EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University athletic department announces that former head volleyball coach Kelly Pitre has been hired to return to the program for one season as the interim head coach.
Pitre was the head coach from 2014-2016 and stepped down in January to focus on her family and time with her newborn son. Athletic Director
Corey Anderson announced on Tuesday that Pitre has been asked to return for the 2017 season.
Athletic Director
Corey Anderson said, "I am very pleased to rehire Kelly once again. We have been keeping her in the loop with some recruiting news and updates on NCU volleyball and after a heartfelt conversation about the team, the players and her adjustment to motherhood we decided together to have her return."
"I am thrilled to be part of the NCU volleyball program once again," said Pitre. "The returning student athletes along with the incoming class that I helped bring in are a special group that any coach would be lucky to get to work with. We made huge improvements in the classroom and on the court for this program and we plan on continuing that tradition."
Being hired as the interim coach, Anderson said, "will allow both Kelly and the NCU volleyball team to have one last season together while at the same time allowing us the opportunity to begin the search to hire a new head coach. Our anticipation is to have our new hire in place before the completion of the 2017 season, in order to gain an early focus on recruiting for the 2018 campaign."
A comprehensive search for the 2018 head coach is underway. Interested parties are encouraged to contact
