The Oregon Tech Women's Golf Team had busy day two at the 2017 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship which is being held at PGA National Squire Course. First at 7:15 am (EDT) they finished their final two holes from round one, then at 7:45 am they started round two.
“The lady Owls hung in both days under windy and stormy conditions.,” said head coach Jeff Corkill. “We now wait for the afternoon rounds to finish to find out where we sit in the tournament. It is very likely that there will be a cut after 36 holes due to pending poor weather tomorrow. After all is said and done, 330 may be a pretty good round for today once the afternoon teams come in.
Leading the Owls in round two was freshman Stephanie Koza who fired a solid 79, improving by 10 strokes over her first round effort. Fellow freshman Noemi Ernst finished round two with an 81 after her first round 80. Janelle Ferlan (Pictured by Jeff Corkill) who led the Owls with a 78 in the first round, shot an 85 on day two. Also with an 85 today was sophomore Kylie Collom.
Oregon Tech returns to action Thursday, May 25th in round three. In order for the Owls to survive the cut on Thursday they need to be one of the top 17 teams of 30.
