SALEM, Ore. – Corban University head softball coach Abigail Farler announced her 2017 recruiting class on Tuesday, naming 11 players that would be joining the Warrior squad for the upcoming 2018 campaign.

In her first year as head coach at Corban, Farler guided the Warriors to the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) regular-season title and a trip to the NAIA World Series championship game, ultimately leading Corban to a second-place finish overall at the World Series.

"We are really excited about all of the additions to this year's Corban University softball team," said Farler. "We are bringing in a lot of depth, versatility, and athleticism. I think this group will hit the ground running and start competing right away, and we look forward to the year ahead.

Serena Terrones – 5' 2" – OF – Southwestern CC – Sweetwater HS – Calif.

Hailing from southern California, Terrones joins the Warriors following a successful junior college playing career and standout high school career. While at Southwestern CC, she collected Second Team All-League plaudits, while prior to that in high school, she was named the League MVP and was a First-Team All-Conference award-winner. In addition, she was tabbed the League's Best Defensive Player twice.

Terrones plans to major in Psychology at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Terrones:

"We are so excited to welcome Serena into our program. She comes from a great program at Southwestern Community College and will add a lot of depth for us in the outfield and infield. We are excited to utilize her speed and experience this year."

Emily Lockhart – 5' 4" – INF/OF/P – Yamhill Carlson HS – Idaho

Following a highly successful high school career, Lockhart comes to Corban looking to make a difference for the CCC Champion Warriors. Named the Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2017, she was an All-State honoree for pitching and an All-Conference award-winner in the outfield. She played on the Aloha Breeze 18A squad on top of her high school team.

Lockhart plans to major in Health Science at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Lockhart:

"Emily is a great addition to our program, coming in as a hard working utility player. She has an infectious energy that everyone around her will enjoy. We look forward to seeing what Emily can do with her speed this year."

Kaylee Buhrkuhl – 5' 8" – INF – San Joaquin Delta CC – Santiam Christian HS – Ore.

While collecting numerous high school and junior college accolades, Buhrkuhl joins the Warriors looking to be a playmaker right away. While at San Joaquin Delta CC, she was named the Conference MVP, was a First-Team All-Conference infielder, collected All-State accolades, and led her team to the conference championship and a fourth-place showing at the State Championships. She hit .662 at the plate, smashed 10 home runs, totaled 32 RBI and scored 42 runs in just 21 games. Prior to her junior college experience, she was the State Player of the Year in High School and a perennial All-League honoree.

Buhrkuhl plans to major in Education at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Buhrkuhl:

"Kaylee is a big addition to our roster for this coming year. She brings a ton of athleticism and is a great fit with our program. Kaylee has experience at multiple positions and comes from a winning program with Delta."

Alyssa Vidal – 5' 4" – P/INF – San Jose City College – Santa Teresa HS – Calif.

Vidal comes to Corban after a successful collegiate and high school playing career in northern California. During her time at San Jose City College, Vidal collected All-League honors, and during high school, she was named to the All-League First Team four times. During her sophomore year, she collected League MVP plaudits, while during her senior year, she hit for a .400 batting average at the dish.

Vidal plans to major in Business Marketing at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Vidal:

"Alyssa will help us out in the circle this year. She is a workhorse and will bring great competitiveness to our pitching staff. Alyssa has proven that she is able to carry a lot of weight with her time at San Jose City College."

Tatum Prechtel – 5' 4" – INF – Chaparral HS – Ariz.

Prechtel comes to Corban from Arizona following a standout high school career. An All-League honoree during three of her four years in high school, she was named the Defensive Player of the Year during her senior year and was selected to the All-City Team and Senior All Star game. In addition, she led her team to a third-place finish at the State Championships.

Prechtel plans to major in Pre-Physical Therapy at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Prechtel:

"We are excited for Tatum to join our program this fall. Tatum is a great overall fit for us and will be utilized in multiple positions on the field. Her understanding of the game and competitiveness will bring a lot to our team in the coming year."

Alex Spencer – 5' 6" – OF – Ridgeview HS – Ore.

Spencer comes to Corban and will look to make an impact with the Warriors right away. During her high school career, she was named to the All-League team during each of her four years, and during her three of those years collected All-State plaudits. Her senior year was her best season, as she was named to the All-State First Team thanks to her .500 batting average and 47 RBI.

Spencer plans to major in History at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Spencer:

"Alex is a strong true outfielder coming in for us this fall. She is an awesome kid who will put the team first and bring a lot of depth to our outfield. We look forward to using Alex's aggressive nature on the field."

Megan Rybars – 5' 8" – OF – Monroe HS – Wash.

Rybars comes to Corban this fall, bringing a good combination of speed and power. While leading her team to a third-place finish at the Washington 4A State Championships during her senior year, she collected First-Team All-Conference honors and garnered Gold Glove plaudits. Throughout her high school career, she received Offensive Player of the Year accolades and multiple First-Team All-Conference honors and Gold Glove awards.

Rybars may major in Physical Therapy at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Rybars:

"Megan is another outstanding true outfielder for us. She comes from great club programs and will be a workhorse in the outfield. We look forward to using Megan's combination of speed and power this year!"

Ally Crakes – 5' 7" – P – Point Loma HS – Calif.

Joining the Warrior pitching staff for the upcoming year, Crakes hails from southern California. During a highly successful senior season, she tossed 82 innings, registered a 2.28 ERA, and totaled 83 strikeouts. While starting all four years of high school on the varsity squad, she also played for the Power Surge 18 Gold, leading the team to the Triple Crown at Nationals.

Crakes plans to major in Education at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Crakes:

"We are looking forward to Ally joining our team this fall. She will bring a different look to our pitching staff with her natural movement. Ally is a strong fit with our program with her team-first mentality, understanding and love of the game."

Sophia Barbosa – 5' 6" – INF – Hanover Central HS – Ind.

Barbosa joins the Warriors after a successful high school career in Indiana. During high school, she was named the Defensive Player of the Year and collected All-League plaudits on multiple occasions, leading her team to the conference championship. On top of high school action, she played on travel teams such as the Indiana Rebels, Diamond Devils, Valpo Phoenix, New Lenox Lighting, and Illinois Fire, capturing numerous championships along the way.

Barbosa plans to major in Media Arts/Journalism at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Barbosa:

"Sophia is a piece of the puzzle we are looking forward to bringing in. She brings great glove work to the infield and a strong bat. Sophia will bring a lot of personality and toughness to our team right away this fall."

Lauren Robinson – 5' 9" – P/1B – La Quinta HS – Calif.

Robinson, a southern California standout, comes to Corban looking to make a difference for the Warriors both in the circle and at the plate. During her high school career, she led her team to the League Title all four years, setting a school record for home runs in a single season during her sophomore year. While Collecting First-Team All-League honors during her career, she also was named the MVP of the Palm Springs Tournament twice.

Robinson plans to major in Criminal Justice or Health Science at Corban. Coach Farler had this to say about Robinson:

"Lauren will bring a ton to our team from an offensive standpoint as well as pitching. She will provide depth in the circle and power at the plate. We are excited for her to join this group in the fall and expect her to compete right away."

Mahina Chong – 5' 9" – UTL – Yavapai CC – Hawaii

Following a successful high school career in Hawaii and then a standout two years at Yavapai College, Chong is set to join the Warriors looking to make an immediate impact. During her sophomore year at Yavapai, she hit for a .375 batting average, totaling 66 hits and 29 RBI. In addition, she recorded eight doubles and 47 runs scored, starting 53 games on the year. Additionally, she totaled a .506 slugging percentage and a .406 on-base percentage.

Coach Farler had this to say about Chong:

"Mahina is a big piece of this signing class. She will bring versatility to our roster, being able to play in the infield and outfield. We are looking forward to her making an impact to our offense right away."
