CI Volleyball Receives Second Straight Team of the Week Nod

LA GRANDE, Ore. –The College of Idaho volleyball team has been named the “Team of the Week” for August 21-27, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
 
After a program best 4-0 start, The College of Idaho volleyball squad doubled that mark in week two of the season moving to an impressive 8-0 to begin the 2017 campaign. Competing in the Big Sky Challenge, hosted by No. 14 Montana Tech, the No. 25 Lady Yotes defeated three higher ranked teams and in state rival Lewis-Clark State to share the tournament title with Eastern Oregon University which also went 4-0 in the Butte, Montana tournament.
 
Sweep was the word of the day on Friday as the Lady Yotes downed No. 10 Grand View (Iowa) 3-0 (29-27, 25-18, 25-18) and then dispatched No.23 Carroll College 3-0 (25-18, 30-28, 25-18). Reigning CCC setter of the week Marija Djonovic recorded 39 assists, seven digs and two aces against Grand View and added 42 assists and 10 digs against Carroll.
 
 On Saturday CI would knock off No. 20 Bellevue (Neb.) 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-15) after dropping their lone game of the tourney in the very first stanza. In their final match the Lady Yotes would add another sweep to their resume as they handled Lewis-Clark State 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-16).
 
College of Idaho (8-0, 0-0 CCC) will stay on the road for a third straight week as they open CCC play at Southern Oregon University and Oregon Tech on September 1-2.
