KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University put three goals on the scoreboard in the first half for a 4-1 non-conference victory over Linfield this afternoon on the NU Athletic field. Sophomore Nadine Huff led the Eagles with two goals.

 

NU would go up 1-0 early in the first half as an Eagle player was fouled in the box and Stephanie Wilson put her penalty kick into the right corner of the goal. In the 26th minute, Bailey Travis would bend a free kick from 19 yards out around the Linfield wall to make it a 2-0 game.

 

Linfield’s Taylor Cole would close the gap to 2-1 at the 37:26 mark as she scored from 30 yards deep in the right corner as she put a rocket into the far corner of the net for the score. The Eagles’ Nadine Huff would score her first goal in the 41st minute as she put a left footer on the ground into the right corner. Whitney Weaver had the assist on the goal.

 

Huff would end the scoring at 48:18, taking Madison Morrow’s pass in front of the goal and putting it past the Linfield goalkeeper.

 

Northwest U’s (3-2) Kat Sanchez earned the win in goal making 9 saves on the day. 11 NU players totaled 16 shots and the Eagles held a 6-4 edge on corner kicks. 20 players saw action for the game.

 

Sarah Bailey took the loss in goal for Linfield (1-1) making 6 saves for the Wildcats. Emma Smith had 5 of the Wildcats’ 21 shots, one on goal.

"I'm pleased with the result and with much of the way we played today," commented Bryan Chud, NU head coach. "We're still working on things, but we are improving with every performance and are moving in the right direction."
