BILLINGS, Mont. – The ninth-ranked Rocky Mountain College men’s soccer team opened Cascade Collegiate Conference play with a 3-0 loss to Southern Oregon at Herb Klindt Field on Friday afternoon.

Rocky Mountain (4-1, 0-1 CCC) trailed the entire game as Southern Oregon (1-5, 1-0 CCC) scored just 18 seconds into the game. The visiting Raiders would make it 2-0 just over three minutes later to put the Battlin’ Bears in chase mode the rest of the day.

SOU would find the final tally in the 81st minute when Mitchell Pinney slid a shot past a diving keeper and into the goal from just outside the penalty area.

Rocky wasn’t able to create many chances as they attempted just eight shots and only put one of them on goal. The chance came from Marco Kummerle in the 29th minute.

Kummerle had two total shots in the game to match Tulio Melo and Sky Swenson for the team lead.

Cole Catlin suffered his first loss of the season in goal with one save.

The Battlin’ Bears continue the weekend at home on Sunday against Oregon Tech. The game will be played at Herb Klindt Field with first touch scheduled for 2 p.m.
