Corban Women Earn Shutout of Eagles
KIRKLAND, Wash. – A goal in the 53rd minute would be all the Corban would need to hand the No. 23 Northwest University Eagles a 1-0 loss in Cascade Conference play today.
What may have been a tale of missed opportunities, Northwest U outshot the visiting Warriors 17-11 including 10 shots on goal which were all saved by Corban goalkeeper Sheyenne Brusven who earned the shutout with solid play in goal. Brusven made three saves in the first ten minutes of the game off two shots by Jubilee Zevenbergen and one by Ashley Evanger. Three more Eagle shots on goal in the final eight minutes of the first half would not get passed Brusven as two by Nadine Huff and one by Katie Michkiosky would be stopped.
Annouscka Kordom would get the game winner for Corban at the 52:08 mark as her 5 yard shot from the right side would get passed NU goalkeeper Kat Sanchez. Defenses would battle the remainder of the game and would not allow another score.
Jubilee Zevenbergen had four shots for Northwest U (4-4, 1-1 CCC) with three shots on goal. Whitney Weaver and Nadine Huff each took three shots. Kat Sanchez faced five shots on goal by Corban stopping four of them.
Corban’s goalkeeper Sheyenne Brusven made a game high 10 saves in goal for the Warriors who took five corner kicks to Northwest U’s four.
