Owls Score Late to Down Battlin’ Bears
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Rocky Mountain College women’s soccer team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with a 1-0 loss to Oregon Tech in Cascade Collegiate Conference play at Herb Klindt Field on Sunday afternoon.
Rocky Mountain (5-2, 1-1 CCC) took more than double the amount of shots as the visiting side, 17-8, but they couldn’t put one away. The Battlin’ Bears had eight of those shots on goal.
Oregon Tech (3-4, 1-1 CCC) put four shots on goal with none bigger than the final one. Karah McCulley hit a shot from 30 yards out that was just over Maia Wetzel’s reach for the game’s only goal in the 89th minute.
Amber Pearson led the Battlin’ Bears with five shots – two on goal – and Sami Heimer attempted four shots with three on frame.
Wetzel finished the game with three saves in taking her second loss of the season.
Rocky will play its next five games on the road and they don’t have another home game for over a month. They will begin the trip at The College of Idaho on Saturday at noon in Caldwell, Idaho.
