Red Lion Players of the Week Announced

 The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period September 11-17.

Mark French

Men’s Cross Country

Mark French of Oregon Tech. has been named the Red Lion men’s cross country Runner of the Week. 

French, a sophomore from Tualatin, Ore., finished third at the CCC 8K Invite with a time of 25:33. French’s time put him as the highest finisher among all Cascade Conference schools, which was almost 20 seconds faster than any other CCC runner.

Tyler Franke

Men’s Golf

Tyler Franke of Oregon Tech has been named the Red Lion men’s Golfer of the Week

Franke, a junior from Sutherlin, Ore., shot an 11 under par to win the Oregon Fall Invite. His 205 total is now an Oregon Tech school record and tied for second all-time at the Conference level. Led by Franke, Oregon Tech men’s golf team additionally set a new Cascade Conference record with a three round total of 844, breaking the old record of 847.

Gonzalo Garcia

Men’s Soccer – Defense

Gonzalo Garcia of Southern Oregon has been named the Red Lion men’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Garcia, a sophomore defender from Stockton, Calif., aided the Raider defense allowing only 4 shots on goal all weekend. Garcia recorded an assist for the Raiders’ first goal of the week.

Christoffer Bisbo

Men’s Soccer - Offense

University of Providence’s Christoffer Bisbo has been named the Red Lion men’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Bisbo, a senior Forward from Silkeborg, Denmark, had a huge weekend in the Argos’ dominating wins. In UP’s win over Multnomah, Bisbo scored 1 and had an assist. Additionally, he set a new school record for goals in a game with 5 scores in an 8-0 win over Walla Walla. The senior captain is currently tied for the CCC lead in total goals with 7.

Maci Beierle

Volleyball-Setter

Maci Beierle of Northwest Christian has been named the Red Lion volleyball Setter of the Week. Beierle, a senior from Yakima, Wash., continued her consistency in running the Beacon’s offense, averaging 11 assists per set as NCU went undefeated for the week. Beierle totaled a season-high of 45 assists in the upset win over Corban.

Molly Vitale-Sullivan

Women’s Cross Country

College of Idaho’s Molly Vitale-Sullivan has been named the Red Lion women’s cross country Runner of the Week Vitale-Sullivan, a sophomore from Pocatello, Idaho, won the individual title of the CCC Preview meet in La Grande with a time of 18:38.

Casey Jansen

Women’s Golf

Corban’s Casey Jansen has been named the Red Lion women’s Golfer of the Week

Jansen, a junior from Waddell, Ariz., set a new CCC record for lowest individual tournament score ever, breaking the previous mark by six strokes with an even-par score of 144.

Devan Murfitt

Women’s Soccer – Defense

Devan Murfitt of Carroll College has been named the Red Lion women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Murfitt, a junior Goalie from Bozeman, Mont., started in the two shutouts for the Saints during their undefeated week. Murfitt also contributed to the team’s notable win over NCAA DIII opponent, MSU Billings.

Haley Damian

Volleyball - Defender

Northwest Christian’s Haley Damian has been chosen as the Red Lion volleyball defender of the week. Damian, a senior from Eugene, Ore., averaged 6.4 digs per set this week as NCU went undefeated. In the upset win over No. 15 Corban, Damian totaled 28 digs. Earlier in the week during the first set against New Hope, Damian crossed the 1000-dig plateau for her career, making her the third player in NCU history to do so.

Lauryn Gamache

Women’s Soccer – Offense

Rocky Mountain’s Lauryn Gamache has been named the Red Lion women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Gamache, a sophomore Forward from St. Louis, MO, scored three goals and added an assist in the 4-3 overtime win over Southern Oregon. Gamache now has 8 goals on the season.

Kasey Campbell

Volleyball - Attacker

Kasey Campbell of Northwest Christian has been chosen as the Red Lion volleyball attacker of the week. Campbell, a freshman from Salem, Ore., led the Beacon’s win over Corban with 15 kills. Northwest Christian finished the week 3-0 with the help of Campbell’s 29 total kills.
