Knights, Geoducks Battle to 1-1 Draw
PORTLAND, Ore. - 90 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods did not settle the argument between Warner Pacific College and The Evergreen State College today in women's soccer action at Damazo Field.
The host Knights were playing their first Cascade Conference game of the season, and were on the front foot against the Geoducks during the first half. WP out shot the visitors 7-1 and won four corner kicks. The Evergreen defense stood strong however and the score remained 0-0 after 45 minutes.
Evergreen began to find their footing in the second period, and struck first thanks to a 30 yard free kick goal from Hunter Thomson Terrell in the 50th minute.
Warner Pacific responded just six minutes later, as
Ashley Giesbers found space at the top of the box and fired home the equalizer.
The score remained deadlocked for the rest of regulation and overtime.
Claudia Flores nearly sent WPC ahead in the 79th minute, but her 12 yard effort clanged off the post.
