SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Oregon Tech women’s golf team withstood a second-round charge from Corban University on Tuesday, claiming the Northwest Christian University Invitational championship by four strokes.
The Owls held a nine-stroke lead after Monday’s first round but was outscored by five on Tuesday to claim a narrow 653-657 win. The College of Idaho was a distant third (711) and Walla Walla took fourth to complete the team standings (892).
College of Idaho’s Natalie Mullins (pictured) held on to her first-round lead as well, posting a 74 on Tuesday for a six-shot individual championship. It was the third tournament victory of her career as she scored a 77-74—151.
In second place was Casey Jansen (78-79—157) and in third Bethany Bullers (81-77—158), both from Corban. Oregon Tech owned the fourth and fifth spots with Janelle Ferlan (159) and Stephanie Koza (162) respectively.
