No. 12 Rocky Dominates Walla Walla
BILLINGS, Mont. – The 12th-ranked Rocky Mountain College men’s soccer team returned to Wendy’s Field with a dominating 12-0 win over Walla Walla University on Friday afternoon.
Rocky Mountain (7-1, 3-1 CCC) was playing on its normal home field for the first time since August 28. They controlled possession throughout the 90 minutes of action and attempted 50 shots on the day. The Battlin’ Bears put 29 of those attempts on goal.
The 12 goals are the most a Rocky team has scored in a game since the 2015 season and it’s tied for the second-most they have ever scored in a game. It also sits as the second-most scored by a Cascade Conference team this season.
Nine different players scored for Rocky and 12 different players recorded at least one point. The season-high shots came from 15 different players with nine players posting multiple shots.
Mason Luse scored three times on five shots to record the third hat trick by a Battlin’ Bears player this season. Bilechi Sumali added two goals in the second half. Sky Swenson tallied one goal and two assists with Chasen Lashure, Sam Davidson, Colin Gregory and Emmett Zavitz notching one goal and one assist apiece.
Tulio Melo and Jonah Gronmayer each had two assists for Rocky. Lashure led all players with 11 shots (five on goal) and Swenson took six shots (two on goal).
Walla Walla (0-7, 0-6 CCC) took four shots – all in the second half – with Kristofer Wennin stopping the Wolves only shot on goal.
The Battlin’ Bears return to Wendy’s Field on Sunday when they host Multnomah University at noon.
