SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University men's golf team opened the 2017-18 season with a dominant performance on its home course vs. George Fox University, defeating the Bruins by 12 strokes in a single-round tournament.

"Today was a great way to start the year," said Corban head coach Tom Graves. "After a long summer, our guys were eager to get back into competition mode. They showed many signs of greatness today out on the course, but we still have a lot to clean up. In particular, we need to work on finishing out our rounds."

The Warrior 'A' team recorded a score of 299, while George Fox's 'A' team notched a mark of 311. Corban's 'B' team actually played better than the 'A' team, combining for a total of 295.

Leading the way on the course for Corban's 'A' team were Aaron Seabrook and Rickey David, signing their scorecards with 74s. Blake Netter recorded a 75, while Zach Lund and Kasey Crossland came into the clubhouse with 76s.

The best round of the day actually came from Marcus Frazier for Corban, as despite playing on Corban's 'B' team, he went under par with a 70 for Sunday's round. In addition, Isaac Calderon shot a 73, and Devery Stewart recorded a 75.

"A big thanks to everyone who came out and supported us today," said Graves, "and also a big thanks to Creekside Golf Club for hosting us!"

Corban returns to the course and begins Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play at the Oregon Tech Invite on September 11-12.
